Luke Anderson

Luke Anderson is an engineer, accessibility consultant, community builder, innovator and advocate for the creation of a more inclusive society. A graduate from the University of Waterloo’s Civil Engineering program, Luke sustained a spinal cord injury in 2002 while mountain biking in B.C. Employed at Blackwell Engineering since 2006, his frustration with the inaccessibility of the built environment led to activism. In 2011, Luke founded the StopGap Foundation. The foundation’s main focus is the Community Ramp Project, a volunteer-run campaign that creates awareness about barriers to accessibility. The group offers free deployable ramps to businesses with single-step entryways. They increase accessibility and start a conversation about the importance of an inclusive society.

Paddy Harrington is the Founder of Frontier Co., a design consultancy and product incubator based in Toronto, Canada. He was formerly the SVP of Design Innovation and the Digital Creative Director at Indigo Books and, prior to that, the Executive Creative Director at Bruce Mau Design. He has degrees in literature and architecture and has worked in research, architecture, advertising, and design. His clients have included The New York Jets and Giants, Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, Unilever, the Holy City of Mecca, Li-Ning, and the Fogo Island Inn in Newfoundland. He is an award-winning writer and filmmaker, and has spoken at several design conferences as well as at Brown, Harvard, and the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing.
